The finishing touches
Congratulations! You have finished your tasks and put your forms online – but now what?
Complying with the Services Directive is not a process that is ever finished. Below is a list of tasks you should revisit on a regular basis:
- Do periodic spot checks on your own website content to ensure the information and links continue to be legally correct and up-to-date.
- Visit the ELMS portal frequently for updates. You should also be receiving the regular BIS newsletters but if you don’t, check the ELMS portal news or the BIS Newsletters page to download the latest edition.
- Double check that you have seen the latest redeployment notification. Every so often, we make changes to the application forms centrally, requiring that all authorities who offer those formalities redeploy them afterwards to reflect the updates.
Ongoing support
Even after you have completed the compliance process, the ELMS team continues to offer support. Refer to our Contacts page to find the appropriate channel to direct your enquiry to.
Service provider enquiries
If an applicant contacts your authority with a question or problem, direct them in the first instance to your licensing department. We find that the majority of user queries relate to the content of the licences or other issues that your authority will be able to help with.
If the user’s query is technical, however, please direct them to fill out the feedback form on the businesslink.gov.uk (for UK businesses) or the UKWelcomes (for EU businesses) website. Alternatively, you may wish to check the ELMS portal solution centre yourself for a solution and/or contact the ELMS support team via the ELMS feedback form.
